I think you can map it to one of several buttons depending on your button- I have a 7d, and the AE lock button and AF-ON button are two different buttons. I use AF-ON for my back button focus...

A useful BBF set-up (if the body offers it) is to have the 'floating' AF point (or multiple points) assigned to the AF-ON button, and to register the centre AF point to the * button. Then, if you are shooting something way out on an outer point, or with some fancy group of points set-up, and you suddenly want good old single centre point... right now - just press * and you are there ;).

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

From captain to colonel?

Ah - got you now! Never dawned on me all this time.

Cap'n Fishy was a nick-name given me from a character on a radio programme in the 1990s. Col is just a shortening of my name - Colin.

Col (no military connections ;))
