Ohh you meant that NR, I thought NR from 3rd party or from Adobe, I never touch that NR in DPP before, so I wasnt aware about it, and yes the HIGH ISO NR is disabled in my camera. I usually use DPP only for converting and adjusting the wb, colors, contrast etc ( RAW Tab only) then cropping and resizing in CS3. So I have to set both sliders to 0 to make NR disabled? Is that what ur saying?

Yes, "disabled" really just means "really low". If you ever want to see what those 4 settings do at any given ISO, just take a series of shots and go to the tab to see. Each model has different values at each ISO level for each of the 4 settings. I try to keep those sliders below 12 regardless of ISO.

DPP does a good job at noise reduction more around the mid range, but anything higher really starts to smear detail. It is better to always have DPP do low level NR, then finish it up with 3rd party tools to retain your detail.

I used DPP to convert RAW to JPEG, CS3 only for cropping and resizing. I did mostly the editing in DPP (white balance, sharpening, contrast etc).

I am glad to see that I am not the only one who uses DPP as the first step in my PP instead of doing it all in LR.

Yep, for me DPP is powerful tool, and sometimes its more than enough for my needs, but I never used LR, so can't comment on that

I pretty much left my camera on 6400 shooting in Norway in December - It was pretty dark all the time and after my first attempt the year before in Iceland I wanted to retain as much defenition in the Aurora - 6400 seemed to work pretty well in letting in enough light and keeping shutter speed down enough to retain some shape.

Still learning with this camera and was rushed leaving the office on a trip for the last day. Wish I had a tripod and another few minutes to do this one over again! The lighting was great that evening.

12,800 ISO, 20 luminance / 20 colour NR. Still a fair amount of noise due to the processing style, but oh well :)
