Took advantage of the nice weather on a day off from work to take a walk.

i posted these in the sports section but since i used my 60d, ill post these here.

Second year at the Burton US Open, this year I got media creds and decided to take some pictures. I do it as a hobby so had no intentions of doing anything with these pictures besides printing them for my own use.

Here are a couple, I will upload more later.

I don't visit these forums so much as I used to, but here's a couple of northern lights photos from tonight. There is exceptional activity over much of the united kingdom.

Bulb mode, iso 400, f2.8, held shutter for around four minutes (at a guess). Taken in the outer hebrides of Scotland.

Beautiful, How did you use 4 minutes and not get star trails? I get them at 30 seconds.

Does anyone use this is a wedding setting?

I'm looking to get this as an upgrade to my T3 and curious how it performs in low light.

Speaking from experience...

Shooting a hair after sunset (in terms of light) it does no problem...

This was shot with the 100 F/2.8L @ 2.8.

I tried using my 60D (had just sold my 5D2) for a low light wedding reception with a 24-105 F/4L and it was disaster, i can't really blame the lens in this situation, the light was horrendously low at the reception, since acquired the 6D, used it at a reception last weekend (super low light) and it performed perfectly, even shooting at ISO 25,600.

Just my .02.

Thanks for the input! I don't think i'll see anywhere near that ISO with a crop sensor haha

What's the max ISO that you're comfortable with on the 60D? I'm only comfortable up to 1600 on my T3, anything else is pretty noisy.

Natural light, Kind of like it. Could be better with a reflector.

I've gotten good results at 3200 and 6400 with the 60D if I over-expose a stop or two. Or as they say around here, ETTR (expose to the right, on the histogram). Would be a good time to shoot RAW instead of jpeg too, if you aren't already. You might try this with your T3 for that matter and see if there's an improvement.

Also helps if you don't pixel peep at 200%. ;)

I'm new to RAW, so I think even using that will be an extreme step up.

That being said, I'm already seeing many limitations of my T3. I figure if I get the 60D, that's a camera that can probably be used for quite a while.

The T3 just shoots too slow with RAW for it to be reasonable for me.
