i was digging around the internet looking for the settings other folks use for photographing fast moving objects. In the shots above i was using single point focus and no AI servo, apperture priority. i have made the adjustments to group focus (single point is hard to catch with fast moving objects), changed Ai servo speed to 1/4 and will go out for another try.

i am perhaps ~25% satisfied with my shots and i definitely have not pushed the limits of this lens yet.

for my BIF shots i just hold the trigger down aim and pray haha 7D machine gun takes care of the rest. My goal is to try and bring the % of keepers up.

its snowing again here, i hope it clears up by weekend so i can go out and shoot ;)

Thanks! Its ok.

Question to you Sir :)

Do you use rear focusing button when you shoot?

I just discovered this technique for myself and have been practicing on 7D. It seems you have to hold rear focus (while AF is AI Servo mode) to maintain object in focus, once you let go the AF stops tracking target. From youtube videos it seems on other Canon's folks let go rear focus button but the camera continues tracking the object that you locked your focus on. Am i getting this right? Is there a way to continue tracking with fingers off of rear focus?

Thanks!

To be honest, I haven't tried using that focus strategy yet. I will have to give it a go.

question to those who are using this lens: what f-stop range produces sharpest images for you? also if you have a TC 1.4x or 2x , how does the "sharp range" change?

Thanks.
