Flickr isn't too bad. I use it as a sort of clearing house for the sites I post to online. And since they recently kicked the free storage up, it's even sweeter. I have seen people comment about compression or something when linking, but either I don't have that issue, or I am not that critical yet. I'm not sure what sort of bird that is, but from what I noticed since subscribing to this thread, the 70D seems to be a popular body for BIF and birds in general. Nice bird though!

I got a bird! No idea what kind of bird it is, but it was close enough to get a couple decent shots.

Thanks! I hadn't really given much thought to birds before this thread. It seems the 70D is good at it though, so I figured it was worth a shot. There aren't any lenses in my bag good enough for what some of these guys get, but I'll take 'em if I see 'em. :)

Thanks George...and from that description, apparently I was lucky to see one at all!

EDIT - Listened to the call and it is a very common bird around here. I hear that call all the time.

You are upgrading from a 40D as did I. You will love the 70D. And congratulations on your new life together -- now go get some pictures to post to the list :-)

Just got my 70D three weeks ago and have come to realize this may be my newest addiction. Picked up a pair of cheap fast aperture primes and am having a BLAST learning how to shoot. Hopefully I can pick up a thing or two from everyone here and improve my keeper rate. The stuff you guys post is inspiring and making me want to improve every time I grab the camera!

Below SOOC. :)

I'm so looking forward to this. The 40d lasted me a long time and it's an amazing camera. I'm really looking forward to trying the video with the 70d as well.

Tried a higher ISO (400) to give a faster shutter speed on the moon tonight - 500mm lens with 1.4x extender (cropped).

Exif: ISO 400, 1/250th sec, @ f/9

Wow Paul def. improvement. And I take this as a reminder that the 70D can take quite an ISO bump.
Hoki, great bird shots as far as I'm concerned. I'm becoming a 'birder' whether I want to or not. I'll put an eastern towhee on my list of birds to target :)
