Nicolas, were you using the A7 with an adapter and the Canon mount of the Samyang, or some other combination? I'm very curious about how that body would work with my lenses.

I was using the E Mount version. I guess it's the same as the Canon.

Thanks Benjamin

You're very welcome. I just bought the 85/1.4 Rokinon and I love it. I'd like to pick this one up as well.

Ive seen nice stuff from the Rok 85. This lens was a bit of a learning curve for me but if your used to fully manual lenses then you should have no issues

Seriously good shots man! I've been on the fence with this lens. It's nice to see what it's capable of. May be my next addition.

couple of questions before I pull the trigger. I'm on a 5D mk3

1. Has anyone used this lens for video?

2. Does it make a difference which version you buy? Amazon has the Samyang and Rokinon versions.

and

3. Is using PT Lens with it the only distortion control you need?

Many thanks! I have both versions in my cart ready to check out :-)

I believe all the brands are the same, just renamed. Dont know if one has better QC than the others.
I use the Lightroom profile that you can find online ( a German fellow created it,I believe). Works great, and is easy to install if you read the instructions. Cant comment on video

1. Not yet, but I plan to during the spring.
2. Same lens, different labels, buy the least expensive one.
3 I use a distortion filter in Darktable, works great. I'd say the PT filter is all that you need.

I just stumbled upon this little tidbit. Didn't see it referenced anywhere around here (although I certainly could have missed it).

Free Samyang Filter Holder (external link)

Requires a few steps to qualify.

Not in the States (yet), but maybe useful for those in Europe.

Resume party... :)
