Ever see a bunch of guys get together and have hours of arguments over which sports team (you name the sport) is best. They will discuss all the different players and the coaches and strategies and talents of the teams.
I think they do it because they get a big charge out of the banter. From time to time I am one of them. I guess they just like the "back and forth". I have read pages of these "gun-fights" without posting, and sometimes I have to jump into the middle of it.
It is a messageboard. All kinds of discussions go on here, and some of them are bound to be "differences of opinion".

If I am interested I read it, if not, I just move on to the next thread.

I am so tired of fighting with myself over the 6D and 7D debate! All my bickering is tiring me out!

The reason for all this is so obvious!!!!!!

Canon has planted trolls here in order to drive up sales. Think about it, someone gets into photography and purchases the latest Rebel. He finds this site and the first thing the Canon operatives tell him is that his photos won't ever be worth a darn if he doesn't go out and buy some new L glass. Soon as he gets the L lenses mounted on his Rebel the Canon operatives tell him his Rebel isn't worth a darn and he needs to go full frame if he's ever going to accomplish anything in his new hobby.

See, it's all so simple.

This happens with a lot of things. Gamers are even more ridiculous with just about every thread on some forums turning into a Sony vs Microsoft argument and they get far more abusive than anything I have seen on here.

Patrick Star, is that you living under your rock?

The 70D is the current Canon prosumer-series (XXD) camera. Go to your friendly Canon site and you can learn all about it (and even buy one, although you'd do better at Adorama).

If you notice, equipment debates are usually started then continued by those who cannot take good pictures - gearheads.

Then there are the people who likes to generalize a lot.

In all life, there will be people who worry what to buy. Or if what they bought is good enough. Or that someone else will not think it's good enough. That's just reality.

Say something wrong about a car model that someone else happens to own a late friday night, and then walk home with a swollen eye.

Peoples worries about what is the best or what is good enough or what is best for a given amount of money must be respected, even if some threads blows up tiny differences into paramount show stoppers.

A very important requirement for humanity to improve and grow is by mental fencing. The people who are willing to look at the arguments of both sides and ready to reevaluate as new good arguments shows up will end up the winners. Some people will have their views locked in stone and just auto-repeat the same thing forever without ever adapt to a changing world. But in the end, we do need challenges to see problems from new angles and be able to expand our views and improve.

Wow, pwm2. That's some really deep stuff there, especially for a photography forum.

The debate will be settled when everybody admits that the 7D is the superior camera.

^ this /all threads.

People just don't what to admit a crop is better than their fancy FULL frame. 'Crop' is too close of a work to 'crap' and FULL just sounds sooo gooood it's got to be better, right? Canon came out with the first affordable FF and that worked out well so the marketing gimmick '6D' was bound to happen and clearly it is doing well. Unfortunately this just tells Canon they don't need to come up with real technology, just new marketing.

Did I wind up enough people with that? See it's too easy, that's the real problem. People have this inability to ignore stuff written about their stuff on the internet.

But I'm guilty too. For instance the only reason I got a 5DIII is because it's the only Canon camera that doesn't get a bad rap - even the 1Dx is large and expensive and some people say bad things about it. If I cry while on the computer the tears get into my keyboard and I have to get my laptop serviced. Cheaper to by a 5DIII. The 7D is a better camera and I'd like to use it but I can't take people complaining about the noise and lack of AF points, it just hurts too bad.....

OK, enough sarcasm for one night, I think I got it out of my system, carry on....
