The heavy fencing makes it very difficult to get good images. Here are a are two of the few I am happy with from Thursday's Community Day. HArdly used the camera on Friday, not even taking it today. Will have it with me just in case tommorow though.

Hope you like.

M.

Anyone have any recommendations on which corners to take pictures from? They seem to block off more and more spectator areas each year so I no longer know. I will be going tomorrow. Thanks! And great pics both of you. Much better than I did last year

Great shots ... Clearly a longer lens is necessary - I just had the 180mm macro :)

Agree .. some panning action would have helped them look better :)

Panning action and motion blur certainly would of helped, but to shoot through the heavy fencing it is necessary to use as wide an apprture as possible (even then, I still have the fence showing in most shots I took). As a result of having the apprture wide open, the shutter speed is usually too high for good motion blur (especially in the sunny days we had on thursday and friday). IT was more overcast today, but i didnt take my camera so it may of been possible to get slower shutter speeds if anyone was taking shots?

ncsa - would 2 and 3 be at turn 13? I am thinking of going to turn 9/10 tommorow. I've spent yesterday and today just watching in the premium zone at turn 15. I will have my camera tommorow and I think turn 9/10 is one of 2 places I found where I can get reasonable (not great) shots through the fence. I went past the inside of turn 13 on thursday, so didnt try there.

Go Lewis and Dan!!

stang, see my previous post. I think 9/10 is the best option but the porsche shot of mine above came from a little way before 9, around about turn 8 I think.

Thanks, I will give those places a shot. I think I will be lucky to get 1 decent shot not full of fence in it by the end of the day. I imagine it will be difficult to get a good spot with the amount of people that will (presumably) be there tomorrow. It will be my second time shooting with my new 70-200 and 400 (if that will even be useful) so I'm not expecting miracles

If you make it to 9/10 look for me and say Hi. I'll be weaing black cargo pants and a light coloured t-shirt (probably white) with a North Face baseball cap and swinging around (or resting on the ground next to me) a 100-400mm lens (unless its raining in which case it will be in my bag). I plan to be close to the photographers tower along the fence line.

I think both those lenses will get you a few shots. I got the two I posted earlier with the 100-400 (though they did require a little finess in photoshop to make the postable!!)

I'll try keep an eye out for ya! I shall be wearing some Ford gear :D If you do notice me don't be surprised that I'm only 19  I really hope it doesn't rain too much (ideally not at all). While I have a weather sealed lens and body, I don't exactly want to use them in the rain that much and I haven't bothered to figure out a rain coat etc to use

I'm a bit older at 44 (but people say I look younger ;) lol). Photography is an any age sport. Wish I had got in to it at a younger age (I didnt start until I was about 36 or 37 I think). Perhaps I would be better at it if I had.

I got wet today in my t-shirt, so will have a rainjacket with me tommorow. I have an old plastic lens/camera cover from when I used to shoot at Brands Hatch, but I am more likely to put the camera away if it rains. Although the thought of some good shots with spray is tempting.
