Such great colours and detail. I should have purchased one of these trackers instead of the GOTO iOptron Smart EQ. On top of that I killed the sensor in my 5D2. Hundreds of burnt pixels now. :(

how on earth did that happen?

Fun fact... this photo ended up on ars technica yesterday.

I guess that counts as "published" :)

Wow Scott! I love that set-up. I'm doing some Kids-With-Santa photos for my church next week and that helped me a ton.

Here's what I did on my sick day today:

A friend started a blog and unwittingly lifted a copyrighted photo from Google Images (assumed, but probably true) and I told him about Creative Commons work, etc. I was bored so I took the photo so he wouldn't run afoul of copyright infringement. Plus, it was fun :D

Very best,

Look at all that dust and gas across the Galaxy. According to experiments done by Nasa, Space smells like burnt diesel fuel.

They did not, however it does have a Creative Commons license on it, so that was not necessary. I'm glad I habitually check my flickr "stats" so I notice high view "bumps" like that.

On board flash 430exii on ettl
cowboy studio trigger sync on cam held with hair bands

yn560 on stands w/cowboy studio receivers (just upgraded after this event to yn-622c which will give me 100m range) the cowboy studio only gives me 30m range
flashes were on their widest zoom (24mm i believe) pointed to the roof for bounce @ 1/4 power

summary:
in fear of quick battery consumption off camera flashes were put on 1/4 power. i had to increase iso 1600 in order to get good lighting result. i realized i need two more flashes for a total of 5 flashes on such a big place like this. this way i can drop the iso and also decrease power on the triggered flashes if necessary. i will need battery packs for all to have an all night of shooting.. we will see, i already started investing on this set up..

Used my phone for the entire lighting for the shot. Taped my business cards to create a bar of light to control lighting exactly how I wanted.
