Here is a duck. Thankfully they do not move very fast. :)

Wow, Gabe! Fantastic captures! I don't think I've ever gotten anything remotely that sharp out of my Two-Fifty... How much (if any) post processing did you do? The clarity you got is absolutely brilliant.

thanks.

Well, first of all I'm a bird photographer, that's what I do best.

So naturally, I have a setup in my back yard. Feeders, and next to them a "fake" tree (basically a sawed off tree branch turned vertically and placed in a tube on the ground. It stands like a tree :) )

So I'm shooting these juncos from about 12-15 feet. Nice light too.
Then I crop the 10mp XTi file to about 3-4 mp, then do my usual processing.

So basically, the key is that I shoot from a close distance.

Putting together an inexpensive beginner kit for my mom. Got an XTi + 18-55 IS kit for $60 (!), the lens was broken (internal AF ribbon failure), fixed it for $3.55

Then I picked up a nice used 55-250 IS here on POTN for $100.

Here's the result. I'm a bird photographer, so these results may not be typical, I'm not sure my mom will be able to replicate these any time soon (well, they don't have juncos in central Europe anyway) :)

A very sunny day in England yesterday. Took the 55-250 out with the Mrs and set it to approx 125mm or approx 200mm equivalent on a FF (as considering an upgrade). Casual shot, didn't really think about it, yet sharp and with decent bokeh... Why am I upgrading again?!

Thanks man!
Both shows at Ruth Eckerd Hall in St. Pete. Great venue to see live music. Just have to sneak your gear by security!

Just got Lightroom 5 & trying to learn my way around. I'd been using PSE 6, so it's a bit of a learning curve!
