None of these are terrific since I had just gotten the lens a few days before and was learning how to use it. These are a few varied examples in less than good light. The outside shots were taken in very grey, on and off drizzle, conditions. The plane was taken in the subdued lighting of an airplane hangar. The indoor photo of the oil lamp in front of the window was taken in a dark pub in Annapolis, as was the shot of my camera bag. These are all straight conversions of raw files with no post processing.

Do you think something could be wrong with my camera or lens? Except for the first pic, I had it on a tripod on the rocks, with a remote shutter and live view (so mirror lock). No wind, maybe the the ground was too unstable?

They're all the raw images converted and proportionately resized to jpeg. I'm new to the T5i and the 18-35, not sure what it's supposed to look like. It has a hoya uv filter, maybe that is the issue?

I feel like a total dumbass now... but I know why the pictures aren't sharp. Even if the focus is turned to infinity, f5.6 is too wide for sharp deep FOV landscapes...

I'm not sure that's the problem. Where are you posting your pictures from? I'd like to see all the Exif info. I will shortly post several pictures taken at the Smithsonian Institute Air and Space Museum inside a huge hanger in fairly low light at f/2.8, and they are all pretty sharp. You shot them in RAW I believe. What did you use to convert them to JPEG? They look dull and flat so I assume you didn't use DPP to convert them and you didn't perform any post processing. RAW is a great format, but programs other than DPP ignore in camera settings like picture style, sharpness, contrast, color tone etc. Unprocessed RAW files are kind of a blank slate that usually necessitate some post processing. While I use Lightroom 5 to adjust exposures as needed, if I intend to use images straight out of the camera I always convert them to jpeg n Canon's Digital Photo Professional. This program retains all the the in-camera settings you would normally see in a jpeg file.

Does anyone here have any shots using this lens on an APS-H body. Just wondering how it would work on my 1d MK IIn.

These shots from the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum location in Chantilly VA, were all taken at f/2.8. They were converted from raw to JPEG in Canon's DPP with no additional processing. They are essentially SOOC.

The vignetting would probably be quite extreme through most of the range. It won't be as bad as on a full frame, but I suspect the wider you go the worse it will get.
