Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 - does this look sharp

I have the lens listed in the title. I have been worried about it's sharpness. Here are a couple of pictures I took today:

Images are SOOC. For this first one the center focus was on the middle of the glass ornament:

This lens is never known for its sharpness but the cheap price.....

Just don't pixel peep too much

they're soft..... any chance you're using a filter?

Compared to the 18-200 superzoom, it doesn't do that well...

Sorry to be blunt....but the answer is no.

You get what you pay for.

The Tamron 28-75 is my everyday lens for my 6D. It is not nearly as sharp as my 35 IS or 100 f/2. It isn't even as sharp as my Sigma 70-200 OS. What it is, is good enough. I paid $300 for it, and the only real upgrade is the Tamron 24-70 VC or the 24-70 II. Neither is worth the price for what I do.

Compared to the 18-200 superzoom, it doesn't do that well...

one of his shots was stopped down to 7.1..... it should be really sharp there, but it's not. He's using on APS-C, and the tamron should be as sharp in the center as the 24-70L mk1. It's a sharp lens on a crop body, but his copy does look very soft.

F/2.8 on a $300 zoom Try stopping it down it should perform well at f/5.6 or f/8. I got this lens largely because it looks cheap and doesn't draw much attention for street photography. And it's pretty good when stopped down. No worse than the 24-105mm.

Is it possible autofocus is off, or are you focusing manually?

Good point. It would well be that the lenses AF is missing focus. Try manual focus.

Focus manually in live view and check your results.

That looks horrible compared to mine, especially once you consider that one of those is at F/7.1. I'm on my 2nd copy (the first lived for many years of hard use), and both I considered to be fairly sharp wide open and very sharp once stopped down a little.
