It's nice to see a manufacturer offering instant rebates this time of year instead of the obnoxious Tamron and Canon mail-in promotions. Most of the deals are so-so, but $469 for the 17-50mm f/2.8 and $669 for the 105mm OS macro are fairly solid (prices from B&H). Anyone know how long the rebates are going to last?

Why are mail in rebates a scam? I've done multiple now with canon and they always send me my money, and it's very quick.

I wouldn't call it "scam" instead of Pain in the A**

I'll agree with that. My latest experience with Tamron bordered on "scam territory" though, took over three months and several customer service inquiries to get my rebate. Canon, OTOH, seems to enjoy price hikes followed by a rebate drive to cover the fact they just jacked up their prices again. Back to the topic at hand, it looks like the rebate on the Sigma 17-50 is only through 3/31, not sure about the others. Unfortunately it doesn't look like I'll be able to get my funds together in time :/
