This is probably a newb question but I was contacted recently by a fairly large real estate company that would like to license and use one of my photos for stock (not sure what that means) for their corporate website. I usually do little jobs on the side so this is a first and completely new to me. They told me to send over a price quote for stock photos so I was looking for some sort of idea on where to start. I don't want to lose the "job" by making some sort of outlandish request. Anyway, I appreciate all advice anyone has for me and thank you for the help in advance.

I found it and the calculator said $995?! That doesn't seem right to me.

I can't seem to find it.

...you need to find a comparable image and then pretend to buy it: go through that process and you will find the calculator. (Remember the calculator isn't there for photographers, its there for people buying images, so thats where you will find it.)

I went through all the steps. Where the image will be used, how large, the duration and the market and that's the number it came up for the image for sale.

How long do they want to use it? Is it a large realty company? $1000 may be nothing if it's a large one like Century21.

I sent them a message back asking what size the image would be, how prominent it would be on the site and the duration they would like to use it. I just really don't want to blow this.

When someone approaches me wanting to license an image my first question is "What is your budget?". That helps me gauge how serious they are and how interested I am in providing the image for what they're willing to pay.
