Thanks. Phuket.

Thanks - I only have PSE 11 ... and the Canon software, and a free download called Hugin. So far haven't had much joy in getting my shots right

Hi Rosey, I haven't used this personally but it is supposed to work pretty well. And the price is right...

[QUOTE=palad1n;16775347]Paul Iddon: great macro!

of course.
It takes several stages to get decent results.

1) i select and mask everything out of focus and apply strong NR there. feather all mask borders to get smooth transmitions --> all ugly noise in bokeh area is gone.

2) draw a mask on in focus dark/shadow places, apply medium NR, using white/black colors for mask intensity control and trying to maintain good detail/noise reduction ratio in shadows area manually by hand and wacom tablet.

3) mostly all spots infocus with proper lighting are in good shape and it is not necessary to apply NR there.

4) resizing this image to 3k or 2k according noise level density.

5) local sharpening only when it´s needed.

6) applying other post-processing steps on different picture individually.

I hope this helps.

Thanks, I decided to try definitely

QUOTED IMAGE

Like the looks of this particular picture. The texture, lighting, needs more attention to view, which is good, as you feel that you got more than from the "usual" pics. Perfect shot!

Thanks guys.

Back read a bit, and this thread rolls fast(in a good way);). I always envy those moon shots.
Gotta admit I got out during the last full-moon bringing my 10-22m looking for a good view at the ultra-wide end but the weather just didn't cooperate.
The 75-300mm III USM:mad: in my bag reminds me that I have to take most of my shots w/ a wide-angle - for now; and those moon shots will be for you guys with good tele.

My share for today..

I would love to see some portraits with the 70d. I rented one for the last wedding I shot and really enjoyed using this camera. Looking to pick one up next month

I did this one with the 70D and Canon 17-55mm lens. Not exactly a portrait (it was just a candid shot), but maybe it will give you an idea of what it will do for you.

picture is unfortunately very soft, probably because heavy noise reduction and crop afterwards.

what settings have you used?
