I should definitely upgrade to CPS Gold. I'm sure it's worth $100, right?

Ive been silver and it was great especially when i got the mirror lock up issue (which they replaced for free) they shipped back within the week even at the silver level; but I think I will be sending more in for cleaning this year and go for the gold.

Is it worth it to upgrade? I may just send the camera in once this year for check up and cleaning. Would it be cheaper to stay with my current membership?

I have no complaints JennB. They changed the Gold and Platinum a little bit. Gold use to only get 2 clean and checks but 30% off repairs, now the Gold gets 5 clean and checks and 20% off repairs. Platinum use to get 5 clean and check and 60% off repairs. I think Platinum now gets 10 clean and checks and 30% off repairs.

If you have a decent amount of gear and your sensor/camera/lens is acting up. These coupons can really save you some money. You figure, sensor cleaning cost 25 dollar each time, so you really break even. But the clean and check coupon does way more then cleaning sensor. Clean the inside view finder, and fix other minor problems.

With gold/platinum you also get to "try" camera/lenses for 2 weeks. And when you join, you get a little care package from CPS. You can sell the strap for 50 if you don't like it, or to help recoup some of the membership fee.

It's a win/win. I say go for it.

I bought a used 1D3, had not had the service bulletins done on it. Even as the third owner, they sent me a prepaid UPS label, did the service and their how ever many point clean/check/adjust at no charge. I sent it out Friday 3/14 and got an email Fri 3/21 saying it was done and on it's way back to me. I expect it here tomorrow.

Pretty sweet.

Pretty good deal! The turnaround seems quick. I'm sure you'll be glad to have your 1D3 back.

2 weeks ago i became the owner of a 1D 3 (had a 7D)i really like the IQ compared to the 7D.
Now i am thinking of getting a Canon 100-400 and trade in my 70-200 2.8 l.

I have a 24-105 F4 so i will have a nice range for outdoor sports and wildlife.
But still in doubt.

Would it be wise to switch these two lenses or can i bether get a tc 2.0?

I used to have a 1D MkII, but it sadly got stolen last year, and I've been without a camera since. It'll be nice to get back to it! I've missed it quite a lot.

In my opinion the 1.4X TC are fine, but even I see a negative effect when I try a 2.0X TC. Without a TC, my 100-400 works very nicely on the 1DM3.
On your 1DM3, the 24-105 and 100-400 allow you to cover an effective field of view of 32-520mm at f/4 to f/5.6 maximum. If you need longer (narrower field of view), a 1.4X would extend that to 728 at f/8. That's pretty long ...
