Sounds like Im better off without it due to all the problems people are having.

Did you have difficulties getting through checkout on the Canon website as well?

No but i was expressing grief over buying a like new 580ex II Friday and then seeing that the refurbished 600ex-rt was only $25 more. But due to what people are saying it sounds like i would have had a tough time getting one anyway.

Not sure if it is a co-incidence that last few times that they have this sale, the 70-200 IS goes out of stock.

Don't have historical data over the ages however for the past 4+ sales, I have noticed it.

Do you think it's because it's considered the best portrait zoom on the market and people rush to buy it, or canon just doesn't stock it.

There were only two in-stock at the beginning of the sale, and people were camping out to snipe it as soon as the sale started.

In last sales they've had 5-10, never more than that; they always sell out in a few minutes.

$1599 (+tax) is such a good price for it.

I bought one new for 1799 w/ no tax. Only $70 higher than this refurb.

Sold it new a month later for a small profit. Actually cash deal and a UB date code 135 which essentially after the 1800 I paid I got the 135 for 600

Just saying the deals are out there.

Wow so I lost out on the 14L II today because my credit card did a fraud-prevention check when they charged the order from yesterday, and even though I approved it through my CC within 20minutes (around 8am this morning) and immediately contacted Canon... They cancelled it and will not allow me to replace the order, nor will they honor the price or anything of the sort for another if they do get stock or anything like that.

You think they would might try to call the customer before saying "oh well..." but I suppose not. Pretty low of Canon, IMO.

I had this only happen once before, but that was because it was for the 300 2.8 II and the amount of money it was, but at least Adorama easily reprocessed the order once I approved it and got it shipped... Not a measily $1600 order on a card in which I make these purchases often on... *shrug*

Not sure why the card decided to flag this order, but either way, I think Canon should have at least tried to contact me... I mean, my phone number was listed when I sent my order in in case of something like this.

Sorry to hear that. Canon should've definitely hold the order first for a certain amount of time before canceling it altogether.

I work in Card fraud and I know the frustration most of our client experience.

Same thing happened to me almost 2 years ago, going through the "loyalty" program. card did the fraud stop and they canceled my order right away, I didn't even know until it just didn't show up in the mail.

Yeah, that is the thing... I thought maybe they would call or try to make it right, but nothing. And I tried to contact them multiple times throughout the day (when I could from work) and no luck getting good replies from anyone. They didn't care though... lol

Oh well... Probably a sign that I should keep away from the 14L... :p

Maybe Canon will announce some new UWA zooms or something soon... We can hope!

I think that's a Canon thing, not your bank. When I bought my refurb 6D last october they put a check on mine as well.

Haven't seen any of the white L's in stock aside from the 2 200s the other day. Have they popped in and out over the past few days? I've set up alerts but haven't gotten any emails.

Just noticed some powershot deals not listed on CPW. Looks like there are some bundle sets with the G1x (macro and underwater), G15 (TC), and S110 (underwater). Great deal! given that the Canon version of underwater housing goes for 250 and the TC set for the G15 is also 250.

have to go to their site to see.

I saw the prices and thought "Wow, these are really good deals!" Of course the catch is that nothing good is in stock. 28-135mm? 28mm IS? Yawn.
