Last month, the local shooting range put on their annual competition called Spring Steel, which has been going on for 24 years. It's absolutely amazing how fast some of these people are, especially the pro's. As usual, it was a tiring, but fun day where I got to do my two favorite things that involve shooting. While I awaited my turn to shoot the steel targets, I could shoot the competitors as well!

All of these shots were with the 15-85mm and only yesterday, when I was cleaning up, did I realize I took my 55-250mm lens which would have been much better for closeups of the guns in action.

You'll notice in this shot, her finger is out of the trigger which shows proper trigger control. You will never see a pro with his or her finger on the trigger unless he or she is ready to shoot. In fact, at some matches, that's grounds for disqualification.

This guy is one of the best in the United States.

This is what one of the stages looked like. I forget what, exactly, you had to do, but it's something like start in the first box, shoot some targets, run to the next box, shoot some more, etc, etc. If you don't do it in the right order, you get penalized.

A very nice, expensive gun.

Perfect timing for this shot.

You know you're good when you've got 4 shells in the air at the same time and you haven't missed a target.

Nice work! Maybe a tighter crop on the pictures would be nice... Especially since the targets aren't in frame.

Also, try shooting in some 3-gun events! Those are a lot of fun to participate in, and make for some great photos as well.

Tori Banana...LOL...auto correct strikes again! After some creative googling, I figured out you must mean Tori Nonaka. No, her name is Michele Viscusi. She shoots here locally and only started coming to our Tuesday Night Steel shoots about a couple years ago and has risen up the ranks pretty fast. Only recently did I find out she's somewhat of a celebrity, having been on Top Shot.

Haha. Yes. Damn auto correct. That didn't look like Michelle. I guess she looks different than she did on top shot. Lol.

Nice series,

Im amazed at #3, the spent mag is barely out of the well, and the reload is almost complete, the pic of him later with 4 shells in the air is really cool too.

Great images..makes me want to get back out there again and shoot some matches! Both with a gun AND camera

In our club when I was shooting if you stepped out of the shooters box with your finger on the trigger you were instantly DQ'd and sent packing.
