Howdy,

Here's one from this morning's poking around at the Bolsa Chica Wetlands. I might have been better-off if I had used just my 70-200MII without the 2xII.

Howdy,

Thanks! Your wife's expression reminds me of what my wife does whenever I mention wanting a super-telephoto lens ;).

Here's a heavily cropped shot 100yds away at f/8 that I wish I'd taken at maybe nearly f/16 for a bit more DOF.

^ Love it! Reminds me of a Nat Geo documentary or something. I like the water droplets in the first picture too.

I like the little bit of blur in the shot, it adds to the confusion with all the birds.

Chad,
Looking at your pictures I have two problems, one it is making it very hard for me not to open the 6D box sitting next to my desk. The other thing is it makes me really hungry.

Hah you have very good self-control to not have opened it yet.

Weather looks great today. Who wants to go shooting this afternoon or evening? I'm thinking sunset should be pretty good.
HB pier? Newport Beach? Signal hill?

^^ Oh, great Iowa shot!

The Iowa is a worthwhile visit. And as a bonus, it's deck provides a great view of the harbor and channel, where you can watch boats and ships cruise by. An excellent photo-op in itself.

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.
When you see my photos you'll know that I'm not.

Julian, congrats on your escrow!! Moving to a bigger house with 2 kids now? :D

Don't sell your gear! I gave up the 200, but saved up for 300 instead!!

 Actually, place is a bit smaller. But it's moving out of my condo and now to a free standing house with a yard. My wife really wanted a yard for the kids to run around. I don't remember ever running in my yard growing up, but whatever. Will be getting that darn yard now (and a park with a pond), and apparently a gas fire pit in the yard to boot also!

if you need bath or kitchen cabinets, hit me up. I got the mad hook-ups.

Sweet! I'll keep you in mind for any future remodeling potential.

Oh you going in big now, photography is peanuts compared to home remodel/repairs & maintenance. If you need to liquidate you know where to find us.... :)

Where you moving to?

We're moving to Manhattan Beach. Primary reason is for the schools. So there goes my 1.2 mi commute to work. It'll become 15-mi, but 45-60/each way now. *sigh*

Darn kids better appreciate this. If either of them drop out of high school, I'm moving back closer to my work. :p

jwcdds, I'm a product of Santa Monica Unified schools so I don't blame you for moving your kids to a better district. I do the drive everyday to Westwood, its not bad but coming back sometimes takes me 1.5hrs during rush hour. At least we'll be neighbors lol.
