I'm taking a serious look at this lens to replace my tammy 17-50, but what I've seen is that this suffers from some pretty aggressive lens creep. So with that in mind, I thought I would ask here, so see if actual owners find this to be true, and if it's as big an issue as some would make it.

Had mine 9 months and no creep.

Those are awesome of the Gecko's. What was your technique? I 've never seen anything quite like it.

Thanks, I used a light box and bounced my flash off the top. I found it the only way to wash out the lines in the lightbox. In the future I would like to set up a more natural setup for pics.

Trying my first real night shots during the super moon in 2013.
Excuse the resizing, still learning how to deal with it. You can see the light trail from the jet is quite choppy.

Had mine since '09 and yes, it creeps. Much more noticeably when on my blackrapids strap, as that leaves it lens down. I use in combination with cotton carrier holster which also is lens down. My 17-55 eventually has the whole barrel extended.

I just got one of these last week. So far the test photos that I have made are delightful to me, even if the subject matter is mundane. I will tolerate lens creep in exchange for the results that I am seeing. I use a Black Rapid strap and yes it does creep. Will post some photos soon even though there are hundreds in this thread that attest to the useabilty of this lens.

This may have to do until I can figure out Flickr or get another site to hold the file.

Edited to add: This is Grand-Daughter busting a move at local Veterans Memorial site.

You, like myself have fallen victim to the beta beast. It took me awhile to figure it out, and I still can't post to wordpress from flickr anymore. They've once again made an upgrade unusable.

Jay125 I totally cannot find a thing to click on to get the posting code. They have really out-done themselves this time.

Here is sort of a link sorta:
