Time to start saving again as canon announce new top of the line camera and lens

http://www.the-digital-picture.com …EOS-1D-W-DSLR-Camera.aspx (external link)

Just waiting for the 1D-B for birder and 1D-M. For Motorsport , if fact there could be a huge range of models for each photo genre.

Pretty sure I know what day this was "announced on". :)

Man I hope the sensor is camo covered too or the shy wildlife might see it behind the lens... LOL, brilliant. Nearly as good as the Canon phone.

This part was great!

Built-in Wildlife Call

Not only can the EOS-1D W remain hidden, it can bring the wildlife to the camera. By inserting a memory card with your favorite wildlife call recorded on it (MP3 and WAV formats supported), the EOS 1D-W can play back the recording. No longer does the photographer need to carry a duck, turkey, predator, deer or other call with them to attract wildlife. Canon will provide open source MP3 wildlife call audio files at a website to be announced.

Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

I have been extensively testing the pre-release version of the 1DW and the banding issues in iso 104,000 when you push the exposure totally kill it.... Worthless piece of junk. Plus the built in speaker for wildlife calls totally lacks bass, so don't bother calling anything larger than a garden finch.

Somehow every year on April 1 Canon demolishes the competition with an awesome new camera announcement. Too bad there aren't awesome genuine Canon announcements on other days. ;)

Totally fixable in firmware. They can add a subwoofer in firmware.

I'm surprised that this announcement failed to mention the remote locator the camera is equipped with. Much like the fob for your car, this camera also comes with a remote that causes the camera to chirp when the button is pressed. This is invaluable due to the highly efficient camo scheme of the camera. During testing of this camera, several prototype units were lost after the photographer walked away from the camera briefly thus prompting the need for a "key fob" like device.

Yes, but this feature too is flawed. As I mentioned in my previous post, the speaker lacks bass so the location chirp is only good for those individuals young enough to have good high frequency hearing. Also, I hear there is a cone shaped attachment being worked on by pocketwizard that can be attached by Velcro to the camera body. This may increase the low frequencies and direct them away from the camera...
