Hello all,

I bought a Canon EF 2x III extender this week.

On the packaging, and the extender itself, there is a sticker that says "EAC".

What does this mean?

That would be strange. I bought it in Belgium, and the website where I bought it from stated that the extender came from Holland.

I assume that there will be no difference in production quality?

I'd assume the production quality to be the same, not sure about the warranty though. My link may have nothing to do with your 2X, so don't worry too much.

According to the website where I bought it I have 2 years warranty (standard here in Belgium).

I'll have to test the extender to check the quality. Maybe just peel off the sticker to stop worrying about it :-)

The quality will be fine, pretty sure they're all made in the same place.

Looks like it's some new mark (like the CE mark for Europe):

Absolutely not. There is no difference in quality control or production quality. Only distribution channel.

It's a Eurasian conformity mark...similar to a CE mark and covers a larger economic community.....see

canon bob is right.

It's a certification mark for the Eurasian mark. Just like CE is for north America.

Er,

CE Marking is the symbol
[GIFS ARE NOT RENDERED IN QUOTES]
as shown on the top of this page. The letters "CE" are the abbreviation of French phrase "Conformité Européene" which literally means "European Conformity".

"Mutual recognition of conformity assessment[edit]

There are numerous 'Agreements on Mutual Recognition of Conformity Assessment' between the European Union and other countries such as the USA, Japan, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Israel. Consequently, CE marking is now found on many products from these countries. Japan has its own marking known as the Technical Conformity Mark.[8]
"

It is a European standard but now is used in Canada and America as well.

Hey Koen, ik heb de mijne gekocht in de fotowinkel Art & Craft en daar zit geen sticker op! Zoals hiervoor beschreven zal het idd gaan om een kwaliteitscontrole bij import vanuit Asie.

Hi Koen, bought mine at the local photoshop Art & Craft and it has no sticker on it! As mentioned above it probably has to do with some Asian import quality control.

Have fun with it!

Alain,
