Im really thinking about getting an A7r to use for landscapes and of course I would get the metabones adapter. How do people like this combo with their canon L lenses?
My current lenses are...
24-70L II, Sig 35,85L II, 100L, 200 f/2L IS

Just wondering if it will be worth it to get the A7r...I would mainly be using it for landscape work and still portraits. Thanks and any input is appreciated!

I really like the combo A7R with Canon L lenses. For landscapes and portraits it's really nice IMO, great IQ and dynamic range. Out of you lens line up I use my A7R with the Sig35, 85LII and 100L pretty often and am really pleased with it. Surely it would do wonders with the magical 200 f/2.

Is the AF really that slow with the metabones adapter?

I will care about that AF speed only if i will shoot actions/sports/portraits with motion.

It is. When I need proper AF I pick up the 5DIII.

What wide angle lenses (<28mm) are working well with the A7R? Anyone using the Zeiss 21mm ZE with success? I have read about issues with the corners with the A7R and wide lenses.

I don't have the metabones adapter. I bought a $160 King adapter (Chinese one, from ebay) and there are several types of these from $99 to about $250. The construction seems as good as Metabones, that costs $400 new. I wish I had both adapters to compare the speed of AF with Canon lenses at the same time. I did try the Metabones with 24-105L at a local photo store, and the AF seemed fast. With my King adapter it is slower. Some users believe that Metabones is a 32-bit chip inside, while Chinese ones have 8 or 16-bit chips so they are slower. I have no way to knowing it because Chinese ones don't reveal their specs.

On the other hand, advantage of my King adapter is that it Autofocuses with pretty much any Canon EF lens, unlike Metabones. For examples Metabones does not autofocus Canon 50 1.8 II, however, my King adapter autofocuses it. So you get allegedly slower AF but with more lenses with Chinese knockoffs, while you might be getting faster AF on a original Metabones III for twice as much money.

I am waiting for someone to test and compare all of these adapters at the same time to see if there is any real life difference in speed of AF among them. Also anyone out here who has both types or has experienced various ones, I would want to hear from.

The Metabones adapter also allows Image stabilization (assuming the lens has it), P, Av, Tv, M exposure modes and passes through exif information. Do you know if the King adapter does too?

I have the king adapter showing up next week and will see what it can do. Of course I don't really care about AF speed just that my drainpipe works with it.

I've found so far with dummy adapters that the lens defaults to wide open so that's useful.
