The 24-105. Did you miss the meeting?
Is that because of its creepiness?
I have just measured my studio setup - due to limited space I need to have the camera approx. 1.5 - 2.0m from the guitar being shot. Thanks for all the advice so far, I must say I love the idea of a lens with macro capability as it would be also used for personal pics, not just the guitars. I have read the EF 100 2.8 is a good lens for both portrait and macro, would this lens work for my limited space or can you suggest something more suited? Thanks very much in advance and please excuse my ignorance.
I don't think that will work for you. Adharr, are you using a crop camera?
On full frame, using an 85mm lens at 11 feet (3.3m?) I can get 33 inches ( less than 1 m) x about 45 inches (just over 1m). This is a set up I've used on a few occasions in the past, so measurements are not exact. I don't like going all the way to the edge, especially on the longer part of the frame.
Use the dimentional field of view calculator on the page to get a good idea of where to start. http://www.tawbaware.com/maxlyons/calc.htm
