I can't imagine trying to track them in linear flight with a 600mm lens!

Only with laser guided motion sensing robotic arm.. :p

Good one. But may be you should crop the top a bit. You could see the other bird's foot/paw/nails... :)

Love the sunset over Rotto ScreamingSwifts and I do like the moon's framing as it is...

I was seriously questioning my BIF credentials during my lunch time escape today...I usually find it difficult to track birds but this guy was a real challenge...so many pics of blue sky and plenty of blurred images (partly because I forgot my camera strap and found I was unwittingly changing aperture and shutter speed between shots). Great fun though.

Thanks mccamli :) Was that our Hobby friend at Herdsman? Well done on the shots as they move so very fast!! Love the colours on the heron shots too :)

Heya,

These were from very, very far away. Huge, huge crops. They only look half way decent thanks to the sharpness of the Tamron. I've included a non-cropped image to show the cropping and scale, that was at 600mm on a crop sensor. Seriously far away. Still got decent workable images. Not bad.

Thanks Tanya,I think you're correct, it does look like one of our friends though the colours looked wrong to me at first. It seems to be a young one which looks similar to a young peregrine falcon ()both have the dark eye surround). It did one of the falcon's tell tale dives and that had me blinkered. There were two of them together. I returned today and disturbed a raptor from the tree I was standing under but no one was flying.

I'm still trying to catch a good pick of one of the whistling kites but I'm too impatient and get distracted by the wildlife...then I realise there's been one overhead and I've missed my chance lol

Heavens above Peter, where on earth do you find all these birds?

I'm getting the distinct impression you quite like your Tamzooka...she seems to like you too!

Those owls are incredible! Were those at some kind of raptor sanctuary?
