Well, i don't have 5D3, but i have 1DX, now i use 1DX for almost everything, but once i start to use this A7R then i will keep my 1DX for sports and actions, so 100% A7R for landscapes and architecture, 100% 1DX for sports and action, or say 50% A7R and 50% 1DX as long i shoot landscape as amount of shooting sports or action somehow.

Sony A7/r now has standard hotshoe (no adapter of any kind needed) so any existing Canikon flash would work in manual mode only, no ettl no hss no nothing of course. But this is a nature of the beast if you don't want to just buy a dedicated Sony flash.

i love that Sony HVLF60M Flash especially that it has video light. it's just expensive. read someone from amazon reviewer that it won't work on the A7 series and it has overheating issues.

i need an HSS capable flash for the A7, what flash should i buy?

Expensive it is not. Go to Fred Miranda for sale forum right now and u will be able to buy a new or close to new hlv60 for close just under $300.

The hlv43m is overpriced on the other hand used ones run more than you can buy a news hlv60 for. I bougjt a hlv58am at my local Samy's store slighly used for $220 already with adapter.

Note that Sony is weird in that HSS only works in direct flash mode on their flashes. Once u put the Sony flash in bounce mode, HSS option disappears

A little discussion is ok in the "Lens Sample Photo Archive" forum, but this has gotten out of hand. There are a couple of discussion threads available for the a7/a7R - can we keep most of the conversation in those discussion threads and keep this one primarily for showing images? :)

My a7r comes tomorrow while my metabones adapter comes Thurs. I am mainly going to be using the a7r for landscapes and product shots. The 5d3 for everything else :)...im curious as to how the a7r can handle the 200 f/2L lol...

Congrats on your new a7R!

Your 200 2.0 should work just fine with the a7R. I actually found my 300 2.8ISII to be sharper in IQ when used with a7R rather than 1DX (this is obviously only shooting static subjects). I'm assuming it's because of extra MP? Not sure about Metabones, but King adapter doesn't AF with 300 2.8ISII.

I bought this (external link) from Amazon and both batteries and charger work perfectly fine.
