Sorry, I am not trolling at all.

I am to take delivery today off the EOS-1DX.

My main lens is a EF 7-200mm 1:28 L

This lens will be for 95% of my photos, but am looking for a lens that won't break the bank for a few alternative shots.

Sorry to ask!

You don't have anything to be sorry about, this forum is a place to ask questions after all.

I don't have any first hand experience with this lens, but the Tamron in question has a decent reputation, and seeing as the 1DX has a rather low pixel density, it shouldn't expose the flaws of the lens too much. I think it would do quite well for your purposes.

An alternative would be the 24-105 (either Canon or Sigma), although they do cost more than the Tamron.

I am far from a technical expert, just love taking photos!

Mainly used online here http://theterras.co.uk/2013-2014/main_menu.htm (external link)

Some in the local press, but not to enlarge, frame or sell.

I have a 7D at present, but under floodlights the High ISO struggles, which hopefully is where the EOS-1D X will work wonders with EF 7-200mm 1:2.8 L

The EOS-1D X is a massive overdue treat, but I would like another lens for the odd head shot, panoramic shot or close up shot of a flower like here: - http://markprobin.co.uk …pical_gardens_photos.html (external link)

Hopefully this answers the trolling question!

For flowers and head shots, you would be fine with the 70-200 or a 100mm macro lens. You don't really need a general purpose zoom for those subjects.

Thanks for you replies Sirrith.

I would like an alternative lens with a zoom capabilities filling the void below the EF-70-200

Canon 24-105, it is very good lens. You cand find a SH one, reasonable price, there are so many on the market.

OK, will do some homework on that one.

Also, maybe the Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 IF EX DG HSM ?

I do like the idea of dropping down to 2.8
