CameraPro in AUS is taking orders at $898, which probably includes a VAT of some amount. That would put it at $831 us$ If I did the conversion correctly.

If that price isn't still the guesstimate they used a couple of months ago, that will be a spectacular buy. I'll wait until one hits the shelves before committing though - it needs to have a half decent MF ring as it's likely to spend a lot of time on the A7r rather than my D700 or photo finish camers

If the MF ring is like the one on the 35, it will be quite nice.

The 35A is nice but there's not enough rotation between about 1m and infinity. The Nikon 50/1.4G is much better in that regard and if the 50 Art is similar to the Nikkor it will be a no brainer for me.

If you want nice MF rings get a zeiss. These are AF lenses and are primarily intended to AF.

Review of the lens in use on a real shoot over at F-Stoppers.

Interesting surprise is that the AF is well faster than the 50 f/1.2L! 100% crop looks spectacular as well.

Looks good. I'd like to see a comparison of CA between the Zeiss 55 and this lens, though - that seems to be the major difference between the two in terms of IQ.

I understand completely. I can wish though, right?

On the other hand, I'm not expecting the focus ring to be as good as a MF lens, just hoping it might be as good as an existing (and not so new either) AF-S lens.

I'll probably get it anyway though
