Has anybody used this for outdoor sports?

No one answered this. Since I have a very young family, shooting bird and wildlife will have to wait. I'm more likely to photograph my kids playing sports...

Has anybody used this for outdoor sports ? If so, I'd love to see some examples...Thanks.

It only came out during the winter (here in North America), and we're only now getting into the outdoor sports season in much of the continent, so give it some time. I wouldn't count on great results for fast action sports, though; the AF speed might be a bit lacking.

Peter, no offense but your latest pictures with this lens seem to have lost its clarity/sharpness. Could Flickr screw it? Or are those shot with TC?

Cheers

No prob. Those are with TC. :). I've been using it 1Dmk2 and TC, but I decided to put my 1.4x canon for sale so I can pair this kenko exclusively with my 300mm f4L IS USM for Bif with 7d. I feel like this kenko 1.4x pro 300 dgx is better than my 1.4x canon.

the problem is getting our hands on one of these lenses. It seems pretty damn elusive and hard to get hold of. I'de love to put it through it's paces, but cant even buy the lens.

This reminds me that I might be able to get out and try shooting some soccer this weekend. I'm a pretty crappy sports shooter, but it would be fun to give this lens workout. Don't hold your breath for really good shots, though; neither my camera (T1i/500D) nor the lens are at all optimized for fast AF.

Heya,

Yea you can definitely see the difference with the TC attached, image quality takes a significant hit. I'm curious though, were those eagle shots cropped or is that the full image simply converted to JPG?

I'm contemplating getting a Kenko Pro 300 2.0X and simply using manual focus in the bright Florida sun, and I manual focus the moon anyways.

Very best,

Very best,

Those are cropped also. Taken with 1dmk2 with 8.2 mp (I think) and when cropping IQ degrades a lot. But my 1Dmk2 is excellent without TC specially if I don't need to crop out the image.

Edit: if you are serious about the kenko I have one 2.0x telepus pro 300 dgx (blue dot) barely use. Let me know how much do you want for it I bought it brand new early last year for 225.00 I think.

Some sunshine will do wonders, the lens is a light hog.

But post em up if you get some with that body.
