It takes a while for the big boats to get up to speed, and they really slow down, coming
into and through the turns. There are quite a few classes, on the course, during the race.
The top two cat classes are "SBU/SuperBoat Unlimited" and "SB/SuperBoat".

SBU has two 1,650HP engines, peaks at 150-160mph in the straightaway, and the 1st place
boat "8 Gasse", has it's best lap at an average of 124.7mph.

SB has two 850HP engines, peaks at 131mph in the straightaway, and the 1st place boat "US-1
Stihl", had it's best lap at an average of 107.7mph

Thanks, that's scary-fast to me, esp. considering it's over water.

Personally I love the deep sound of big cubic inch power.

Pic 1, is a older V-bottom boat, a 32ft Aero Tek. I like the colors, graphics and overall lines of the hull, so I featured it as one of my 8 photos posted here.
