Today I picked up a 30D with the 28-135 USM IS lens for $175. Pictures taken look good. Did I get a decent deal? Going to use it as a back up.

yes (if it doesn't break anytime soon)

That is a lot of bang for the buck. I'd say you got a great deal.

Just the lens is $479 if you buy it brand new.

I owned that lens for my 60D. It's a pretty descent lens, but on cropbody, you will miss the wideangle.

Blew off sensor dust this morning, big difference. Still has a bit that needs wet cleaned, but I need to buy the proper swabs for that. Having fun with it in the mean time!

I have a 20d and a 40d and I can only guess at this, but I'm pretty sure you got your monies worth. I have the same lens and when I use it on my 20d I'm always pretty happy with the results. I still can't get over how much I enjoy my 20d.

I have recently purchased a nearly new 30D and a used 40D. Both are great cameras and best buys. Congrats.

I used that camera/lens combination for years, and loved it. Only recently upgraded, and kept the 30D and the 28-135 lens. I'd never sell mine, it's too nice of a package. And a great back-up.

You got a very good deal as long as everything works well. And, it seems to ...

Thanks. So far everything seems to be working, took some pics of the grand kids over the weekend and it did great. I want to get out this coming weekend and play a bit more!
