king and viltrox brand on ebay. ~100-150

Apparently, there may be a problems with the king adapter and other various ebay Chinese adapters.

I had the viltrox brand, and it was horribly made.... clearly crooked.

I guess it's possible to ruin the pin based on that.

it's a risk you take. I do think the third party adapters will get it correct eventually, used a few in the past without issues.

did get to spend some time with the Nikon 50mm F1.2 AI

mostly shot @ F1.2 with pretty good hit rate. I like the lens, but a bit expensive for a manual lens.

it's my cousin's kid, mine are the girls on the volunteer train.

files are looking much better now, that I've figured how to shoot in raw :p

I can see myself owning one of these systems. Love that I can buy really cheap manual lenses.

The idea was to simulate the look of an old postcard. Maybe I should add some text like "Wish you were here" somewhere.

Thanks. I think if used in moderation, a white vignette, like any other style can add to the impact/enjoyment of an image. It's certainly as valid as using split toning and crushed blacks that seem to be so popular.

Besides, it's fun for me to play with different looks in my photographs. :D

Its a personal taste of course. Maybe an old film filter like Nik Analog FX plugin would have created that desire effect. I think the main subject has been capture very well that it didn't need the extra focus the vignetting is bringing.

You should always preface your bolded comment with "In my opinion..." And, in my opinion, the vignette brought out exactly what I wanted to achieve for that edit. And since it's my image, my opinion is all that matters here. :D

I did use Alien Skin 5's many tools to add to the vignette and other other effects to the images of the trains. Alien Skin has far more tools and flexability than Nik's Analog FX (which I also have). Of course, using Alien Skin was a small part of the overall edits I did to my train images.

Again, this wasn't a harsh critique of your work. Please don't take it the wrong way. Of course it all subjective to my liking. That's what I like with photography, you can do whatever you want. Its up to you to decide the outlook. I don't know about Alien Skin. I guess I will have to take a look at that.

Keep on shooting. I do like your work :D

No problems. It's just one of my pet peeves and I cringe a little when I read reponses that sound like they are an absolute truth such as " fake white vignetting" or "It didn't (or did) need...fill in the blank here..." :D

If you use Nik's analog FX, I think you'll like Alien Skin even better (see, I said "I think" ;) )
