Went to a Europe tour with parents. Saw a lot, but didn't have enough time to take picture as I wanted. The tour guide were herding us along like cattle, constantly moving. Had to snap what I can when I can. I brought along the a7r just to test to see whether I would want to keep it or not. Turn out I like it quite a bit. Below image was taken while on a boat tour around Paris on the Seine river.

To those who have the zeiss 55 f1.8, sorry for my ignorant question, is it a full time manual lens even if it is in auto focus mode? I don't wanna damage it. I thought id ask before unboxing it.

Again, this wasn't a harsh critique of your work. Please don't take it the wrong way. Of course it all subjective to my liking. That's what I like with photography, you can do whatever you want. Its up to you to decide the outlook. I don't know about Alien Skin. I guess I will have to take a look at that.

Keep on shooting. I do like your work :D

ops.

sorry.. didn't mean to start something. I honestly didnt' think you meant any harm and was only your thoughts. I am sure there are others who think so as well about the white vignette. as for me I mentioned I liked it. that's it.

least now we know you are bias on white vignettes. :P

jk ;)

If you mean the Sony Zeiss 55 f1.8 lens, it's a full time auto focus lens. You can switch to manual only through the menu or use the switch on the back of the camera. Located on the top right, you can switch from AF/M or AEL (auto exposure lock). When the switch is in the AF/M position, by pushing the button in the center, you change from AF to Manual focus.

I just tested and the focus ring is 'disconnected' for manual focusing normally and does nothing when it is turned. When the AF/M button is pressed, the focus ring is engaged and both focus peaking and focus magnification work. The button needs to be pushed continually in both AF/M position and AEL.

So it's not like some of the FTM canon lenses?

pushing the AF/M button continually doesn't sound good, don't you think?

EDIT: If you select AEL toggle or AF/M toggle in the menu, you don't have to hold those continually.

it's either toggle or hold.

saw it from this video.
