I know how to use Lightroom and Photoshop already because I work in marketing and communications but he's definitely teaching me more in-depth Lightroom techniques. I kind of got discouraged after my third shoot (short blonde hair girl) because after I edited the shoot, Jon came back and showed me how he would have edited some of them and it was techniques I hadn't even thought of using. So it made me question if I was really good enough to try to be shooting the types of shots I'm doing.

I'm extremely inspired by music and pop culture and am utilizing some of those inspirations in the types of shots I set up. I keep looking for photographers who are just starting out who are doing the types of shoots I'm doing and I can't find any. I'm just finding extremely experienced and talented photographers that I can't really compare my first two weeks of shooting to haha.

You must never question yourself like that. You are good enough, what the correct question is how do I get what I want to achieve. question others, question, question that is how you learn. Yes you most definately are good enough.

Btw also, ultimately you are the artist, if your finished image is what you want, do not be dissuaded by what other 'experts' have to offer. Your finished article, as in writing is what satisfies you. You will always eventually find some one else it satisfies. If you are shooting for another, ie a paid shoot, then what satisfies them is the correct answer.

You go girl, show all these fuddy duddies (including me) what you are made of. Best wishes ever, Chris

OK. I quit. I've been shooting for nearly 40 years and can't do what you've done in two weeks.

The only negative that I can say, and this is a minor thing given your talent, is that when you start moving your subject out of dead-center your photography will be killer.

Do you live in the Knoxville area like Jon?

If y'all get up to the Elizabethton area I want you or Jon to give ME lessons.

Dwain

I live in Athens, 45 minutes below Knoxville. We're always interested in meeting up with other photographers. He will be shooting a wedding in Johnson City in June so we will be up that way for sure then.

Thanks for the support!

Following you now. You definitely have an incredible natural talent, very cool stuff! And Jon's post processing influence is definitely evident and I'm sure he'd tell you that I've told him numerous times, that's not a bad thing  His Flickr feed is probably my favorite one of all the people I follow, looks like yours will be up there soon too :)

Some great shots there Riley, really like those two middle panos, the first reminds me of the Lord of the ring/Hobbit movie's.
2nd ones a ripper too, would have been nice if you could have got the middle section of the tailrace in.
Was that Easter weekend?

Shane

Cheers, noticed that mistake on the dam one when I was stitching it together, the top one of those two is a few hundred meters away from where some filming for the Narnia movies was done. There's is also a still a huge set mockup for a Moses movie that ran out of funding still set up there to.

Good day,

I am going to try my very first star trails in couple of weeks. I wonder how long will the battery lasts until it completely run out? I'm afraid I will run out battery in remote area and have no spare battery to use.

And what do you guys think about 3rd party cheaper battery? Do they harm the camera? I don't mind if this battery will die in just a month or so but the original LP-E6 is just very expensive here.

I've never completely run out of battery when shooting with my 6D but considering star trails will require much power and the price of a LP-E6 in here, I should think twice before I get the original one. :)
