Hey everyone! I did my fourth shoot last night. It was my second shoot with my friend Kristin. This is my fourth shoot in the two weeks that I've been shooting and I'm still sticking with natural light and the 50mm. I tried to use the Tamron 28-75mm as well as JonRMoore's 35mm and I just kept coming back to the 50mm. The bokeh and the feel that the 50mm is giving me is what I'm looking for in my photos.

I'd like to graduate to using some lighting techniques but I'll need to get the gear first. Learning as you go is a crazy and intense process. I tried bringing Jon along on my shoot yesterday and I found that having another photographer there made me feel extremely exposed and vulnerable. He was gracious enough to leave after we realized that I couldn't shoot with another photographer as a part of the process. Has anyone else experienced this? I guess the shoots that I'm doing are extremely personal to me. I'm hoping that I can shoot with Jon when it comes to other things like landscapes.

Let me know if I'm sharing too much information about my shooting process when I post photos. Jon's the only one I have to talk to about photography and diving in like I have these past two weeks has been a huge rush and a really great experience. I'm trying to balance some of the conceptual and darker stuff I want to do with glamour/editorial type shots. I think the girls I'm shooting want me to take more feminine shots of them but they're being good sports about the other types of photos I'm wanting to take. Again, these are just my friends. Not models at all. :)

Here are some shots from last night's shoot (more on my flickr):

Agreed. Keep shooting what you're shooting... exactly how YOU want to shoot it.

Jon is a great photographer. You don't want to shoot the way he shoots... you want to shoot the way you shoot... which is evidently working for you. I'm sure Jon respects that.
