I am thinking of getting a laptop (I live in HI and space is limited) and I want to know what everyone thinks. I built a PC a long time ago in high school and it seems cheaper these days to buy everything together or else I would just build a tower.

I believe this laptop has an IPS screen and some decent specs. I am aware of problems that ASUS has and am willing to deal with them especially since I am purchasing it through Amazon possibly. I wanted to know if anyone has dealt with any laptop just like this or similar and is calibrating the monitor easy or....?

Thanks for your feedback!

Edit: meant to put this in the computer section!

Will you be doing any gaming?
It's expensive because of the dedicated nvidia graphic chip.
If not, you can get systems less expensive.

You may want to look around and find one with less ram and a smaller/slower hdd and then swap them out easily later for less $$$. I would focus on processor, a screen, battery life (if this is important to you), and then price in that order.

I saved tons by adding my own ram and adding an SSD and that sounds like something you can do easily (possibly even at a later date if you don't have the cash for it right now).

I wouldn't mind the little extra cost just as long as the screen is good. The extra specs are to future proof it and I already have an sad that I would swap out and put the other hard drive in the optical bay. I need a good screen. That is my first concern. Any suggestions for possible others would be great. I've been looking for IPS screens

Looks good. Replace the hard drive with SSD and it'll be fast, spinning disks are slow.

What about the monitor though? Anyone had good experience with laptop monitors (other than MBPR)?
