Has anyone upgraded to a 4k monitor for Photoshop still work only?
How beneficial is it, can your video card handle the change, any opinions at all appreciated... ;)

I don't think 4k makes sense unless the monitor is really large. 2560x1600 on a 30" monitor seems far more reasonable.

I would think that color accuracy would be more important than resolution, and right now I've not seen any 4k monitors aimed at imaging professionals. I could be wrong, but it's what I've seen. Beyond that, Mclaren has a point in that it would be a bit awkward on a small screen. I edit on a 24" monitor, if it was 4k everything would be tiny.

I've just started looking into 4K monitors and the Asus PB287Q seems to get good initial reviews and will be priced at $799.00, any thoughts on this?

If you care about color accuracy, no, I don't think anybody should buy a 4k monitor right now.

Getting a nice 1600p IPS panel is a far better choice. Don't waste your money on resolution (external link).

The more that I look into this decision and wading through all the hype, I'm finding that there are problems...http://www.luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?topic=86893.0 (external link)

Chauncey... Your question should be this...At print quality being 300 DPI (Thats what I have always heard) does your need for resolution require a 4K monitor. In all honesty, Can you see the difference in 4K and 2K???? Not many can. I agree with the above comments. Color accuracy is MUCH more important. Save the money and buy some L series lenses... If you have a full bag of L series, consider this a consultation and buy some more and send them to me....:) Good Luck!

First step........ Take the lens cap off.

I hear there may be problems with scaling text to reasonable sizes, especially from Adobe.

Mine cost about $530 at Amazon.com. I am quite satisfied.

When, at first, I tried the HDMI input, the monitor appeared to support only 1920x1080 (1080P) via HDMI. But when I switched to the "Dual Link DVI" input, I got the full resolution. Make sure your video card has this output and that it supports 2560-1440.

Aah...I was under the impression that 4K meant 3840 x 2160 pixels.

Yeah, 4K should be around 4k pixels on the horizontal.
