Very good point. For most folks, tax pretty much kills the deal. Refurbs are usually in great condition, and Canon does provide a 1-yr warranty for refurbs, but when you can get one brand new for practically the same price, then new wins every time! (If you're willing to wait for a great deal, such as the CanonPriceWatch Group Buy.)

That is a great price on the 6d for those of us in states that don't charge sales tax.

now it makes sense why beach camera just unloaded a ton of refurb 6d kits (which I bought). The out of state purchase made that more worth it over buying from canon direct however.

I don't think Beach Camera had info on the refurbished sale starting -- retailers are pretty hush-hush about their promotions for this reason.

A more plausible explanation is Beach Camera probably saw the $200 IR on the 6D and 6D Kit coming.

And agreed, you got the better deal in the end because of no tax. You can think of it as $1291 6D + $600 24-105mm and then no tax! As an extra bonus, free Lightroom 5 as well.

If you own a photography business, you have to pay sales tax at the end of the year anyway.

I really like it that Canon charges sales tax (curse you B&H!). It makes my life easier.

I would have snapped one of these up last night, but my new business credit card won't arrive until tomorrow. :(
