So I just received it today and got to play around with it and get some quick shots. I also tried to make a video, but it didn't go as planned. This is my first softbox so far I like it, nice build quality, soft light.

Since the lightstand does go up into the box it does limit how much you can tilt it. Might look into getting a boom type stand soon.

Is that the Cowboy Studio one? I got the exact same one from Amazon this afternoon. lol

For tilting, this is what I'm using:

http://flashhavoc.com/phottix-multi-boom/ (external link)

http://www.amazon.com …ash-Bracket/dp/B00DDUOTUQ (external link)

One other benefit from the multi-boom is the ability to center the flash within the octa.

Yes, it's the cowboy studio one. I had looked at that one I just didn't feel like spending 70 on it, but I may end up looking into getting it.
That is another thing I noticed that it wasn't center, does it not being center effect the light spread much?

I have the same octabox. Works great, and is cheap enough that I don't worry about it. With a triple flash mount, it fits three flashes in it easily.

I just got to unboxing the Phottix Multi-Boom. It was $70, yes. But I'm pretty overwhelmed by the quality of build, detail, and thought that went into this. Bravo to elv for his participation in designing this.

^^^handle makes tilting the unit a breeze.

Hi,
I liked your setup. Actually I was looking to get some setup for family portraits.. but don't know where to start. How much did this setup cost? would be be sufficient for family (3 adults and 3 kids)? How big is the octagon umbrella?
Thanks in advance

What he said ^^

The stands I had purchased previously with a umbrella kit

For a family portrait that size, I would use an umbrella but that's just me. I haven't tried the octabox on any groups yet, so it may work.
