Just moved to the South Island of New Zealand from London this past weekend. One of the things I had on my list was visiting Mt. Sunday in Erewhon, site of Edoras (Rohan) in the Lord of The Rings movies. Got out there today. Spectacular country. Reminiscent of Colorado (where I lived for about 10 years), but much less crowded.

1. The road gives a glimpse of what's coming:

2. Got lucky with the timing -- perfectly glass-like lake:

3. Finally a view of the valley (Edoras is the little hill at centre-right):

Love the swirly foreground blur in the first shot. Nice photos and beautiful location!

Yes thanks for the return memories. For me it was almost 10 years ago. Great series.

lovely photos :)!
I travelled New Zealand for a year in 2012-2013, I miss that place so much, the outstanding beauty and an entire list of amazing things I could say, oh its a perfect place!

These are gorgeous! My husband's about to retire from the military and New Zealand is at the top of my daughter's list of where she's hoping we'll move; the more pictures I see of that area, the more I have to agree with her. ;-)a

Fantastic set FuzzSummit. Your shots are simply outstanding, however, 1 and 4 are my favourite ones.

They are very nice images, indeed. However, with regards to #1 and #4, try to keep the foreground in focus by working with the aperture and/or hyperfocal distance.

I agree. The blur adds to the depth and composition of the photo.

Lovely scenery, but I agree with cerett. The photos would be much stronger with the foreground in focus.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Regarding the foreground, it was a conscious decision to shoot wide open, to get the look I wanted.
