From last Saturday north of town with the 28mm 2.8 IS....I like it for many applications, landscapes among them.....looked dramatic but didn't amount to much at all.....

True, it would be nice to see owners of this lens posting some more photos here. Funny thing but I couldn't find much photos taken with this lens from Flickr. Either I could not give the right string for the search, or I am one of the few owners of this lens on earth.

Anyway, new purchase, and these shots are kinda first tests. But they might give idea what the lens gives with a CROP sensor camera (70D).

First and last pic here are available "full size" in Flickr. Last one is processed with DPP (Basic setting and lower contrast, this lens has A LOT of contrast :-) ), other pics are straight out of the camera jpgs.

One more test from today. I focused very close to get most of the picture in bokeh area. The highlights are killing the pic, though the bokeh otherwise is quite decent. I think that while the lens can be used for such close-up shots (if there aren't too much highlights in the pic), it really excels when you photograph something with deep DOF and want you pic to be sharp.

Sad I didn't take any comparison with Sigma 50mm 1.4 lens to see how the highlights would have shown with that lens.

Nice shots, looks like you can get pretty close with this lens and pretty good bokeh!

I'm now thinking 24 f/2.8 IS USM + 35 f/2 IS USM + Future Canon 50 f/? IS USM would be a terrific setup

Would be close to having 35, 50, 85 on FF.

While not the cheapest setup, that sounds good. I think 35mm on crop alone is quite limiting, and in reality nearer to the usability (or inability) of the 40mm than this 28mm, and the 24mm is actually quite "tight" in crop camera, thus being quite close to the "normal" focal lenght.

I remember some time ago read about a rumor of EF 50mm F1.8 IS, that would be wonderful if it materialized.

I personally, while wanted this GAS to stop, am still considering the Sigma 17-35 in addition to this 28mm IS. On the other hand it really would be nice to have those other ISs from the trio. Time will tell.

Couple of shots from Museum of Technology in Viikki, Helsinki, Finland. Taken with Canon EOS 70D.

First one available full size in Flickr.

This latter one is still generating power to some hundred (?) households from a river beside this museum.

Wonderful lens. Works nicely with 70D's live view when I used a tripod. Some shots needed quite long exposures at ISO 100, so tripod was required. I forgot to turn off IS, it seems there were no problem, all the pics came sharp.

Thanks. I really struggled in my mind which one to choose, but for now have to live with the middle one. This works also nice with my odd interest to shoot forest at the ground level. There is so much interesting details, that this kind of lens can be used for. This would certainly work even better with full frame giving more wide-angle, but ok for crop too.
