I found this picture a while after posted a question.
Looks some xxxD camera, cannot identyfy the lens. Or even some SX camera with big zoom.

The question is still there, curious about what FL needed for such a shot, and wasn't there some problems with airport guys. Liks someone sitting for 8hrs with camera next to airport fence.

That's Clutter's park, E. Imperial Ave. It's a residential neighborhood. You can stay there as long as you want. No one will bother you. Here's the exact Google Streetview location (may not show up correctly on smartphones/tablets):

I was there a couple of weeks ago. Longest lens I got is 50mm. It doesn't get me close enough to shoot the runway. I'm guessing a 100mm to 150mm should do it.

why? what's the problem with your photo for some to give you flack over it?

Flack you got to be kidding I don't know how many times I have opened this thread
just to enjoy the image. I would be hoping that sometime in the near future this Image
will be available poster size to the public. So MikeKelly get on the ball I will need at least
three copies.

That is really cool!
May be I'm misssed it, and you'be already answered, but what lens you're using, and where you're shooting from? I believe this is not through window, and not many airports will allow you to get on their roof for 8 hrs.

No worries - it's a 50mm lens and I'm shooting from Clutter's park in El Segundo. LAX is really cool about spotters - even going so far to build them a little park!

Nice.

Very nice! I always wanted to try this. You should try and sell it to the administration of the airport.

Thanks again guys for the great feedback!

Static - don't worry - I already got that one covered :) LAX was VERY cool about wanting to use the image - and it's all over their marketing now!

Nice work. It's not often someone creates an image that warrants more than a glance these days. You've done well.
