nice, your lens is so close to being relevant in this thread. if only it had the A.

Meh. See the first line in my sig. ;)

Fwiw, the relevance to this thread - along with my earlier comment about 50Ls showing up in the used market - is that due to that little A on Sigma's new 50, the original (or Sigmalux as it was called) can be had rather cheaply.

mK?

They were not kidding on the sharpness front.

What is surprising is the richness of the colours, something that previously I thought is very much an L thing.

Probably contrast, the newer Sigma's have great micro contrast.

I read somewhere (I think it was an interview cited by canonrumors.com) that they compromised a tad on sharpness to get better microcontrast.

I'm surprised some of my local stores had the lenses and just sold out. They ordered more but said it was unknown to get a shipment in.

I ordered April 11th 3:30 am eastern time. And I got a backorder notice. I called B and H. They said something went wrong because I should have been very high on their list. So they will send me one from the next batch. And they will upgrade my shipping to 3 day UPS. I hope they keep their word on this.

It arrived in 3 days via UPS for me and I live in England...not sure I count 3 day would be an upgrade when its in the same continent. In fact, from leaving B&H in NY, it arrived a day later.
