Any of you noticed focus issues with this lens using with Rebels. Bought external warranty from ST. Wondering, if it is better to cancel it. Focus seems to work fine.

Hi can anyone provide a sample pic taken indoor without using a flash and hand held. Needed to find out the image sharpness and whether you had experienced any focus issues.

I have an album just for the Sigma 17-50
Warning, a lot of these have flash. I love strobist stuff. But is should give you an idea of what the lens is capable of. The EXIF is not intact in any of the photos but I put the important bits into the photo's description box.

I haven't had any issue with the AF in low light. The OS works fine. This lens rarely ever leaves my 7D. A note about the photos I posted: I would rather see some digital noise rather than motion blur so I keep my shutter speeds on the high side. The girl peeking out of the box, however, is definitely in the OS range. EFL of 80mm at 1/40th of a second? I'm not handholding that shutter speed, at least not without OS. This frame isn't critically sharp but I can count some of her eyelashes so that's a good sign. The first photo is taken with one hand obviously... the other hand is getting blood sucked out of it. I don't think you will have access to the original sized files but they are all fairly sharp. Sharp enough for my slightly discerning tastes. if they were blurry I wouldn't be posting them ;)

Hope this helps

I own the 550D, the EOS M , and the 7D. My Dad has the 60D. My friend has the 600D. You can't tell which camera produced a photo unless you look at the exif data.
All the significant differences lie in the features, controls, ergonomics, AF, build quality, weather sealing, etc. they all use that 18 MP sensor so even with pixel peeping you won't see any differences.

If I had to guess, most of the photos in that group are probably from the 7D. The 17-50 rarely leaves that camera body. I don't usually use that lens on my 550D because I can't microfocus adjust the lens. It is very close to being correct but @ 2.8 I can tell that it is barely off.

I hope this helps.

Actually you can tell a difference. The 7D for its 8fps sucks at 3200 compared to say a T4i and above. My older T3 trumped my 60D upstairs because it had bigger pixels

The T3 does not have the 18 MP sensor. I was only talking about the 18 MP sensor cameras.

My T2i and my 7D are the 2 I have directly compared the most. They are nearly indistinguishable. You can tell ultra slight differences @ 100% magnification... if you squint real hard. I doubt you'd notice anything different on large prints.
My friend has the T3i and it is, for all intents and purposes, identical. Again, you might be able to tell a very minute difference at 100% on screen but even in large prints you won't see much difference if any. Large prints would be 20" x 30". Basically posters. I have 12" x 18" prints from this sensor that are critically sharp even on very very close inspection.
I have no experience with the T4i and higher models. Take ian_socool's advice on that.
I would be surprised if there was a huge difference but it is possible.
