Looking at this old piece of news.. I am wondering if Speedotron would come out with something that would bring it into the modern times..

I still love my quad head flashes.. But there is some room to make some new stuff like advanced power supplies for quicker cycles, to faster flash durations..

^ Your post caused me to go over to the Speedo website. Looks like they've added a few new products in addition to the old standby's. I not sure though that as a company they'll ever be totally *modern*, but fwiw, I can't imagine anything being more reliable for generating light.

My answer for most photography questions: "it depends...'
