I had the good fortune of being the Official photographer for the Host, Canadian Soccer Association for last nights International Friendly between Canada and the USA.

Here are a few shots from the game.

Nice stuff. Leroux continues to antagonize the Canadians!

You caught the action and emotion really well. An international on artificial turf, is that normal?

Not sure if it is normal or not. I assume it is allowable, since the Women's World Cup next year is being played in Canada and we will be host 5 games in Winnipeg, in this stadium.

Yah Dave, but there was lots of antagonizing going on by both teams. Was a really chippy game, but no yellows handed out, where a couple were deserved for both sides.

I love this set! Especially the one through the net. I love the depth with the action coming towards that camera. I shot women's soccer for a couple of seasons for the Chicago Red Stars, so there are some familiar faces out there. I miss shooting it!

After the Olympics there will never be a "friendly" between these two teams..just like
the two respective women's hockey teams..!

Thanks

answers to a few of the questions:

I was using the following camera gear
Primary - 1D Mark IV - Canon 300 2.8 w/ 1.4 extender
Secondary - 1D Mark IV - Canon 70-200 2.8

These photos are basically SOOC. Other than cropping I didn't do any other adjustments.

Yah I use the words "Friendly" loosely, the rivalry is just insane...

The net shot is my favorite. Well done on your first international shoot.

Is anyone else getting excited about the men's world cup this year? I know I am.

You captured the emotion and action very nicely. Excellent workmanship! I don't know why they came up with the name friendly.
