Ughh why would you say that.... about the 16-35 I hadnt even thought about that..... we dont even know if it will be as good as this 17-40 was. Sigh

Apologies. Just trying to create a silver lining for your cloud. It's probably too soon in the grieving process for that.

Buying insurance (just in time!) in your case however was a very wise move, and will allow you to do something most photographers in your situation couldn't...get yourself back in action (make yourself whole again) with minimal cost and hassel. Don't forget to check rental coverage if needed, in the case that your claim may take more than a few of days to pay. Best of luck,

Half Moon Bay which is near Black Rock in Melbourne. There's all sorts of interesting rock formations on the beach there.

Nice Steelblue ! How was this shot accomplished if you dont mind posting the settings and setup, was this majority done in the shot itself or in post?

here's the pre-edited picture:

IMAGE LINK: https://flic.kr/p/noLYAs (external link) rig behind the scenes (external link) by Jcareyphoto (external link), on Flickr

the camera is suspended from a 16 foot long pole attached to the car by two 6" suction cups. the car rolls at <2mph while the shutter is open for between 2 and 4 seconds, creating motion blur. the final image was comprised of a couple of different exposures then the boom and some background ugliness was edited out.
