Some recent critters

Finally getting a bit warmer here and bugs and whatnot are starting to make an appearance again. I really need to get a diffuser for my flash though, but I was wondering what flashes you guys are using? As I'm a bit worried my 430exii won't be strong enough whilst diffused, not uncommon conditions for me to have to shoot at full power.

Lovely set, but you do need to diffuse the flash.

Good series. I use 430Ex s with no problem diffused. I do normally shoot using ETTL

Good captures and they would be even better diffused. I also use a diffused 430EX in ETTL and in manual mode when paired with a second flash. Don't worry about the 430EX not being powerful enough. It's more than powerful enough for macro and will certainly need to be turned down to approx 1/16 in manual mode (depending on distance, aperture and amount of diffusion).

How do you use your double flash setup? Dual flash bracket?

My main flash is on a flash bracket. The second flash is on an extended arm attached to a tripod that I always carry with me in the field, just in case I decide to do some natural light shots requiring slow shutter speeds. The advantage of not having the second flash on the flash bracket is that I can position it wherever I think it's most appropriate. For example, it comes in really handy for providing backlit illumination.
