it's a good upgrade. you gotta get used to the manual focusing now. but for native lenses, it's spot on.

yet another question,

does this camera use a standard flash hotshoe like canon's?
I believe it does, then goes to my next question, I'm guessing it will work with my pocket wizards in basic trigger mode, I don't think pw makes a tt1/tt5 for sony though

thanks in advance

Ray

sorry i never own a PW.

but

when i tried my YN622C(for canon) triggers, it will work but manual mode only and no HSS.

i bought and returned a phottix odin. HSS works but you cannot control the flash from the transmitter. compatibility issue maybe. You got to go to the flash and adjust manually. but HSS works.

I ordered a pixel king instead. it will come today so i'll test it for you.

Hi everyone,
Is this the right adapter metabones III for canon ef lens to the e mount for Sony?

I believe it is but wanted to make sure?

thank-you in advance

Ray

One of several and probably the most expensive. It works well. There are two other automatic adapters and any number of manual adapters.

I've found the Metabones and King adapters do the job.

Ive ordered one of these last night :D

Question - Choice between the Canon 50mm F/1.2 or the Zeiss 55mm F/1.8 - what would you choose? (on the A7R of course)

Ive bought the Metabones adapter for my TS-E 24 II and obviouslly going to try all my EF lenses but 50 being my fave on a full frame Im wondering the AF on the 55 will trouce the 1.2... true?

You care about AF or image quality?

Did an experiment for you guys today with pixel king if HSS works. Also tested (again) my trusty demb-flip reflector.

here's the setup(i know it looks dangerous, silly sony flash HSS won't work if you unfold the flash up even just one click, no HSS on bounce. hate that!)

here's the ambient as i see in EVF and real-world (see with native lens, the A7R AF is not bad. this is not manual focus and it was snappy.) Maybe the AF assist on the pixel king works though.

here's the result at 1/8000th sec(to test if hss is working) ISO1250

see how minimal and soft the shadow is. the shadow also tells us there's some light throwing from the front.

thoughts?
