Tried a couple of action shots early evening (Pearl Itzumi Series Street Circuit), first shot auto focus and at ground level, second and third shots manual focus all at around 1/2000 sec.

$50 too much. Lol. I'm waiting for SterlingTEK or Wasabi. It will be a lot cheaper and will last longer than OEM batteries.

I posted on Wasabi's Facebook page and this was their response...

"We are currently working on this new battery. We do not have any updates at this time. Please check back in 3-4 weeks. We will also update our Facebook page with any news or updated information. Thank you for your patience during this time and for supporting Wasabi Power."

Thanks for the kind words guys.
1Kind great research, thanks for contacting Wasabi.
Judder-proven the Mk II can do sports! I like the 2cd or 3rd ones best....mind sharing your detailed info? Surely you were in continuous mode? or did you pre-focus a spot? Matters not, just more reason to love the G1X platform.
Msowsun, great adaptation. I'm open to lots of interpretations :)

Yes, it will do sports with a bit of planning, tried continuous mode auto focus but it felt like I was getting perhaps 1 lucky shot out of 4.Switched to manual and pre focussed on a sponsors sign and allowed up to 1/2 sec shutter lag for the riders to come into frame position, depth of field seemed to be OK at approx F6.3-F7.1, it was the shutter speed of 1/2000sec that mattered most.Could have tried panning probably attempt it next time.

Just a quick question: Does anyone find the lens a bit soft, especially when shot wide open, at telephoto end, and at "macro" distances? I'm trying to find out if there's some kind of batch issue or if it's just inherent to the design of the lens.

Could it be the shallow depth of field effect, I know when I hand hold at a large aperture on Macro its not as successful as a smaller aperture on a tripod. Wide open at the telephoto end will be similar to a DSLR with respect to depth of field.
The cycle shots above a couple of them where at the telephoto end at F4.

Hot air balloons at Turf Valley near Baltimore - part of the Preakness celebrations this weekend. Shot these early morning between 6am and 7:30am. Only problem is that I had to get up and out of the house by 5am to get there in time! That was a little rough, but well worth it.

Plenty of sharp detail in all the images, my favourite on is the last image very atmospheric with the sun coming up.

I'm seeing some really neat images here from the G1X 2 and they confirm my findings that this is a GREAT compact camera. I have no regrets at investing AUD $650 on this little beauty.

All I can say is "Come on travel!"

Feaudal-10 stars! Agreed with Judder, the Sun rising is special.
We just returned from 3 days backpacking in the Grayson Highlands. It was strange hiking in a snow storm Friday night. Anyway, took the Mk II:

Two more, why not; one might remind Judder of his area or close. The robin post just so people can see what the 20x digital zoom is all about. I'd prefer something different for birds but if this is all you had it would make do in a pinch:
